Giants Organizational Review

by @ 6:35 pm. Filed under 2008 Giants, Baseball Bat, Baseball Gear

The Giants may have finished in the cellar this year, but if you’re a glass half full kind of guy, you can take a look at the farm club and find a lot of positives.  The teams system was highly successful, but as the Giants Organization Review discusses, a lot of the top notch talent is a few years away.  Expect more second tier finishes but the Giants are definitely stocking up the farm.

Pablo Sandovai was chosen as the postseason hitter of the year. As a catcher, he hit .350 at the minor league level then raked big league pitching to the tune of .345.  You could be looking at the next Geovany Soto here.  And Madison Bumgarner was named the top pitcher.  He led all of minor league baseball with a 1.53 ERA and he struck out 164 batters and he spent most of the season at the age of 18.

Preseason picks Nick Noonan and Kevin Pucetas both hung around in the “kept their footing” category.  And first round pick Buster Posey, who despite not signing until the deadline, finished the season playing in three different spots.

One nice thing about living in San Fran is the weather stays nice all year around and while it’s not always easy to find a pick up game, if you can drum up the guys, you can figure out a way to play some ball.  Fortunately, I found a great website in Baseball Rampage, and that’s where I’ve gotten most of my baseball gear from.  In fact I bought a new baseball bat not too long ago and the customer service was top notch and the selection is incredible.
