Barry Zito, Bullpen Roughed Up in Loss to Padres

by @ 5:40 pm. Filed under 2007 Giants

This game was kind of ugly.  Barry Zito had a lackluster start, the pen did even worse and then the Giants never got their bats going.  Zito gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts and Jonathan Sanchez gave up three runs in his single inning.

At the plate, Barry Bonds and Randy Winn were the only Giants to reach base twice with a walk and a hit a piece.  All seven hits the Giants put up were singles.  It was nice to see Bonds steal a base though.  Man does he look ready.

Tomorrow, it’ll be Matt Cain on the mound and he’ll go head to head with Chris Young.  I like our chances in this one.
