Barry Bonds Homers Twice in Lone Game Against Pirates

by @ 5:51 am. Filed under 2007 Giants

I swear, east coast teams should play all of their of April games in either the south or the west.  The Giants flew out to Pittsburgh in their only series there and played only one game.  It was a good one though as Barry Bonds went yard twice and he drove in four runs in the 8-5 win.  Rich Aurilia went two for five with a run.

Russ Ortiz had a solid start but it looked kind of bad in the box score because of a ninth inning three run shot he gave up.  He picked up his first win of the season though, and he gave up five runs on ten hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings.

So the Pirates are now 3-7.  They”re still in last but they can do some damage as they head to Colorado to take on the Rockies.  Barry Zito will try to pick up his first win of the season and he’ll go up against a tough left hander in Jeff Francis.  Matt Cain gets the start in the second game.
